Dr. John McCuaig is a member of the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM). In addition to the MSK Centre, Dr. McCuaig works at the University of Waterloo as the sports medicine physician for UW varsity athletics, as well as providing on-field game coverage for Warriors Football and Men’s Ice Hockey teams. Dr. McCuaig also works on orthopaedic sports medicine surgical cases as a surgical assistant. His past sports coverage experience includes U Sports men’s and women’s ice hockey, rugby, wrestling and cross country, the London Forest City Road Race, and the NHL Rookie Tournament.
Growing up in Cambridge, Ontario, Dr. McCuaig obtained his bachelor’s degree at the University of Guelph, attended medical school at Western University, and completed McMaster University’s family medicine residency program in KW through the Centre for Family Medicine. He returned to Western University for a fellowship in Sport & Exercise Medicine through the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic, and received top accolade for his fellowship research work on anxiety in concussion.
